Reading groupsReading groups in the department are informal groups which meet to discuss a particular paper or article. These groups meet on a regular basis in term time and are open to all. Syntax Reading GroupThe syntax reading group (SRG) is a group made up of mainly staff and postgraduates from the Linguistics Research Department at UCL who share an interest in syntax. Linguists from other departments and other colleges are very welcome to join us. The group meets every two weeks or so. Venue: Room 101, Chandler House, 2 Wakefield Street If you want to join the group or have any queries, email Hans van de Koot: . Pragmatics Reading GroupThe pragmatics reading group (PRG) brings together postgraduate students and researchers interested in pragmatics and semantics both from within UCL and from the wider academic community. It offers members a chance to present their own research to the group or to lead a discussion on a subject or article of general interest. Venue: Room 116, Chandler House, 2 Wakefield Street If you would like to join the group or if you have any queries, email Kate Scott: . London Phonology SeminarThe London Phonology Seminar is attended by staff and graduate students from several institutes in the London area, mainly UCL and SOAS, as well as by international visitors. Meetings take place regularly throughout the calendar year. Meetings take various forms: reading-group sessions centred on recent papers, informal presentations of research in progress, and talks by visiting scholars. In the reading sessions, a member of the group summarises and leads the discussion of a paper that has been circulated in advance. The research presentations give members the chance to talk about their their work, often as a way of testing ideas or practising talks before conferences. Venue: alternating between UCL (Chandler House) and SOAS If you want to join the group or have any queries, email John Harris: . | ||
